![]() ![]() What I can do is relocate all my folders inside the Lightroom folder and let TM do another back up, then open Lightroom again, work with it, close it and do another backup to see if that resolves this. I really appreciate all the input so far, I guess this is a really uncommon issue. It only happens when Lightroom has been opened and used, otherwise the backups are small. TimeTracker told and tells me what those GB's are: the entire Lightroom folder, not just a catalog file (all of those files are never larger than 1GB). Whenever I use Lightroom, close it and let TM do it's backup, it tells me it will be backing up around 35GB. I understand how Time Machine works, it works like you describe with everything else, except the Lightroom folder where all my pics are being kept, including all catalogs and files. It will still show up in the folder if you "Enter Time Machine" and inspect the most recent backup. If you example you import an image in 2011 and never touched the image file again. Monthly it will do the same with daily backup keep in the most recent day change. ![]() Daily, it will keep a copy of the most recent files that have changed and discard other versions on the last 24 hours. TM will make hourly backup every hour of just the files that have change. If a File changes, Time Machine will create a new copy of that file and any other files that have had the "modified data' flag set since the last backup. Perhaps you are not understanding what you are seeing when you "Enter Time Machine" You see a snapshot in time of the state of the included files. TimeMachine backs up all of these regularly as needed. Some are in mu Pictures folder in folders separate from the LR folder, Others are on an External HDD. Yes, My master images are being backed up by TimeMachine (TM). The Master original files can be many places including in folders inside the folder containing the LR catalog. I saw the original question about the Lightroom catalog folder. Or does someone know what causes this and can anyone help me out here? I'd rather no exclude the Lightroom folder from backups.Ĭlick to expand. How does Time Machine work for anyone else here? Does it just backup the changes made, or is it normal for the backups to be so large in size all the time (and have I simply missed this before?). ![]() I hope it's alright I posted this question here, as it might just have to do with Time Machine and not Lightroom. For some reason Time Machine doesn't just write changes made to a file anymore. My Lightroom pictures folder is currently 35GB in size and that's a lot of space to having back upped all the time. #TIMETRACKER TIME MACHINE FULL#I haven't used Lightroom much since, but whenever I did, Time Machine would do a full backup of the entire Lightroom folder located inside my pictures folder (where it has always been, even before the clean install). #TIMETRACKER TIME MACHINE INSTALL#This was never the case before, until I did a clean install of my MBP a month ago. I'm new to this forum, but found this site while trying to get an answer as to why my Lightroom pictures folder is now being back upped in full by Time Machine whenever I have opened the app and made some (minor) changes to 1 photo, or a few. ![]()
